Sergey Lavrov Meets De-facto Leaders of Georgia's Breakaways in Sochi
On October 3, Alan Gagloev, the de-facto South Ossetian President, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Sochi.
The Russian Foreign Minister congratulated the de-facto president on the 15th anniversary of the recognition of separatist South Ossetia's independence. He also expressed gratitude to Gagloev for the support of Ossetian servicemen participating in the Russo-Ukrainian War.
Lavrov assured that the Russian Federation will continue supporting South Ossetia in security, defense, and socio-economic development.
"If we continue to act in a coordinated manner, all the tasks set by the Russian president will be achieved. The victory will be ours," Gagloev said.
Lavrov met with de facto Abkhazian President Aslan Bzhania on the same day.
Bzhania said during the meeting that Abkhazia expressed full support for the Russo-Ukrainian War. "During the trilateral talks, special attention is expected to be paid to the topic of coordination on the platform of the Geneva discussions on security and stability in the South Caucasus, which is a unique dialog format that involves official representatives of Abkhazia and South Ossetia (along with Georgia, Russia and the United States) under the co-chairmanship of the EU, the UN, and the OSCE," the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
