
Survey in Azerbaijan on Population's Attitude Toward Iran, Israel, and Russian Peacekeepers

The Social Research Center's study of public opinion, performed from December 5 to December 11, 2022, provided insight into how people felt about Iran and Israel.
Do you concur with the President's declaration that "we will do our utmost to defend the Azerbaijanis in Iran since they are part of our nation"? 19.0% of respondents indicated they "mainly support it," while 67.2% responded, "Yes, I support it." Only 2.1% and 6.7% of respondents, respectively, stated they did not support it at all. 5.1% were unable to respond to the question. According to 31.0% of respondents, the demonstrations would directly result in regime change, while 21.3% of respondents thought they might split the Iranian state.
12.8% of surveyed said that demonstrations would increase rights and freedoms, but they wouldn't change the system. 14.2% of those surveyed stated that they did not anticipate any meaningful outcomes from the demonstrations. 18.9% of those polled indicated they had no knowledge of it or could not express an opinion, while 1.8% provided other responses.
According to the survey's findings, the inauguration of Azerbaijan's embassy in Israel was well received. In response to the inquiry, "How do you feel about Azerbaijan building an embassy in Israel?" Because Israel is a trustworthy partner, 61.0% of respondents believe the embassy should be established.
11.3% of respondents said Azerbaijan should exercise caution considering its proximity to Iran. 4.1% of respondents indicated they had no interest in seeing an embassy established in Israel. "I don't care" was the neutral response given by 14.6% of those polled. 9.0% of the respondents said they had no opinion.
According to a study, 81.8% of Azerbaijan's population had a bad opinion of the Russian peacekeepers. Only 6.9% of respondents positively evaluated the peacekeepers' job, while 11.3% had no opinion. 49.0% of those surveyed think the peacekeepers will depart Karabakh when their five-year mission is over. About the length of their stay in Karabakh, 37.2% of the respondents were unsure. 13.8% of respondents said they had no opinion on the matter.
