TAP Provides 30% of Gas Demand in Bulgaria, 20% in Greece, and 10% in Italy
On March 13, Trans Adriatic Gas Pipeline (TAP) Managing Director Luca Schieppati said that the TAP provides about 30 percent of gas demand in Bulgaria, 20 percent in Greece, and more than 10 percent in Italy.
"In 2023, we plan to maintain the good performance achieved in previous years. In 2022 alone, we transported about 11.5 billion cubic meters, of which about 10 billion cubic meters came from Italy, which is 3 billion cubic meters more than the previous year. We have crossed the mark of 20 billion cubic meters of gas transported to Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria since the start of commercial operation (pipeline)," he said.
TAP, the European part of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC), which is a continuation of the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP), annually supplies eight billion cubic meters of gas to Italy and one billion cubic meters of blue fuel to Greece and Bulgaria.
As previously reported by Caucasus Watch, on February 10, Luca Schieppati, the Managing Director of TAP, said that the new long-term capacity of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) will be available at the end of 2025.
