Robert Spano, the head of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), had a meeting on July 6 with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to talk about the court's Strasbourg location and Georgia's ongoing judicial cooperation. At the meeting, Lado Chanturia, the national judge for Georgia at the ECtHR, Victor Soloveytchik, Rati Bregadze, the head of the Georgian government administration, and Revaz Javelidze were also present at the meeting.
The ECtHR President emphasised the importance of discussing recent events and assuring the Georgian judiciary and the Georgian government that the Court and the Council of Europe will continue to increase their collaboration and assistance following the meeting.
Meeting with the Azerbaijani Minister of Transport
Irakli Garibashvili also met with Azerbaijan's Minister of Transport and Digital Development, Rashad Nabiyev. At the meeting held at the Government Administration, the strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan and strategies to increase their bilateral cooperation were the primary subjects of discussion.
Within the framework of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, the parties talked about economic cooperation between the nations. Enhanced collaboration in the domains of transportation and digital technology was emphasised, with the Georgian government's top priorities being the empowerment of the country's transit function and the establishment of a regional logistics centre.
The conversation also touched on implemented and ongoing regional infrastructural projects designed to bolster Georgia’s function as a transit corridor, including the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad connector project and programmes to modernise Georgia's railroad network and construct the East-West Highway. A special focus was placed on the fact that Azerbaijan has been one of Georgia's top five trading partners over the past few years when discussing the bilateral commercial relationship.
