Turkey Commented on its Decision to Close Airspace for Armenian Aircrafts
Armenia's planes will not be allowed to fly over Turkey's territory until its provocations against the Republic of Turkey and Azerbaijan cease, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said today.
Turkey closed its airspace for the aircrafts of Armenian airlines flying to third countries. The Turkish government's decision was motivated by continuous provocations against the country and friendly Azerbaijan, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on NTV today.
If necessary, Turkey will allow Armenian aircraft to enter the country, but will not allow them to fly through its territory as long as provocations continue. If the hostile actions do not stop, other measures will be taken," the minister stressed, TASS reports.
According to the website of the Turkish newspaper Haberturk, Cavusoglu said an exception was made only for the plane of the Armenian parliament speaker. "Only by way of exception did we allow the flight of the Armenian National Assembly Speaker's plane, as he has to participate in a Black Sea Economic Cooperation event. If Armenia continues in the same spirit and does not remove the monument, we will take additional steps," he said.
To recall, a monument to participants of "Nemesis" operation, who killed Turkish diplomats and politicians in revenge for the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey, was recently unveiled in Yerevan.
To recall, as reported earlier by Caucasus Watch, at the end of April, Turkey annulled the permission for FlyOne Armenia to use the Turkish airspace for flights to Europe.
