Turkey, Russia, and the US Lead as Georgia's Key Trade Partners in 2024
On October 21, the National Statistics Service of Georgia published preliminary data showing that Georgia's foreign trade increased by 3.7% year-on-year in January-September 2024, amounting to USD 16.778 billion.
During the first nine months of 2024, Georgia's exports rose by 4.1% to USD 4.787 billion, while imports grew by 3.6% to USD 11.991 billion. This led to a negative trade balance of USD 7.204 billion, accounting for 42.9% of the country's foreign trade turnover.
Turkey was Georgia’s largest trade partner in the reporting period, with a trade volume of USD 2.334 billion, followed by Russia at USD 1.836 billion, the United States at USD 1.473 billion, China at USD 1.428 billion, and Azerbaijan at USD 957 million.
Kyrgyzstan was the top destination for Georgia's exports, totaling USD 908 million. It was followed by Kazakhstan at USD 635 million, Azerbaijan at USD 544 million, Russia at USD 523 million, and Armenia at USD 462 million.
On the import side, most of Georgia’s imports came from Turkey, valued at USD 1.987 billion. The United States followed with USD 1.377 billion, Russia with USD 1.313 billion, China with USD 1.194 billion, and Germany with USD 902 million.
