Ukraine and Azerbaijan Strengthen Energy and Infrastructure Cooperation
On September 11, Svitlana Grinchuk, the Ukrainian Energy Minister, held an online meeting with Parviz Shahbazov, the Azerbaijani Energy Minister, to discuss Ukraine’s energy system and the consequences of Russian artillery strikes.
During the meeting, Grinchuk emphasized that despite the large-scale ceasefire, Ukraine was preparing for the heating season by restoring infrastructure, repairing equipment, and forming reserves. She underlined that preparations, including equipment modernization, stockpiling of key resources, and preventive measures, were continuing according to a strict schedule.
Grinchuk also thanked Azerbaijan for its recent humanitarian assistance, stating that it had been valuable support for the Ukrainian energy sector. Shahbazov confirmed Azerbaijan’s readiness to continue providing assistance to Ukraine in response to the threats of Russian attacks.
Both sides identified common priorities for future cooperation and updated the bilateral roadmap. The discussion also covered the diversification of sources and routes for gas supplies, the development of the Trans-Balkan gas corridor, and opportunities for the export and import of petroleum products.
On September 14, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine announced its intention to sign an agreement with Azerbaijan on the construction of a cultural center, a children’s and youth sports school, and an arts center in the city of Irpin. Earlier, on September 10, the Ukrainian government formed a delegation for negotiations with Azerbaijani representatives to prepare a draft agreement on the construction projects, with Maryna Denisiuk, the Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories, leading the Ukrainian side.
