US Delegation Engages in Peace Talks with Armenian and Azerbaijani Ministers

On October 21, Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, hosted a delegation led by Michael Carpenter, the Special Assistant to the President of the United States and the Director General for Europe at the National Security Council. The meeting focused on bilateral and regional issues between Azerbaijan and the United States and the ongoing normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. 

The discussion highlighted the importance of enhancing efforts to create positive dynamics in bilateral relations and determining future cooperation prospects. Minister Bayramov provided updates on the normalization and peace agreement process with Armenia, including details from the recent meeting in Istanbul. He pointed out that, despite notable progress, the main obstacle to finalizing the peace agreement is the continuation of territorial claims against Azerbaijan in various legal and political documents, particularly within the Armenian Constitution.

On October 22, Ararat Mirzoyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, received a delegation led by Michael Carpenter. The discussions revolved around the Armenia-US bilateral agenda, focusing on ongoing programs to strengthen their strategic partnership and explore future prospects for cooperation. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized Armenia's commitment to developing relations with the US based on mutual interests and shared values.

Both officials exchanged views on regional stability and security issues, with Minister Mirzoyan highlighting Armenia's efforts toward establishing peace in the South Caucasus. He reiterated Armenia's interest in achieving lasting peace in the region and expressed a commitment to signing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan as soon as possible, alongside a vision for promoting economic development in the area.
