Ministry of Defense Confirms Sudden Death of Soldier 

On August 11, Vahe Grigori Zakaryan, a soldier serving in military unit N of the Ministry of Defense, died suddenly. The Ministry of Defense stated that the cause of death would be determined through a comprehensive investigation. It expressed condolences and offered its support to the soldier's family members, relatives, and colleagues.

Exercise with US 

On August 12, the commencement of the Armenia-US joint exercise "EAGLE PARTNER 2025" was announced. During the opening ceremony, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, the First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, and Kristina Kvien, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Armenia, were in attendance, along with senior military personnel and guests. The ceremony featured the national anthems of Armenia and the United States, as well as the official anthem of the Eagle Partner exercise. The servicemembers participating in the exercise were formally welcomed by Lieutenant General Edward Asryan and Ambassador Kristina Kvien. The ceremony concluded with a ceremonial march-past.

The Armenia-US joint exercise "EAGLE PARTNER 2025" is being held from August 12 to 20 in the Republic of Armenia to prepare participants for international peacekeeping missions. Servicemembers from the peacekeeping brigade of the Armed Forces of Armenia, U.S. Army Europe and Africa, and the Kansas National Guard are taking part. The primary objectives of the exercise include enhancing the interoperability of units participating in international peacekeeping missions, exchanging best practices in command and tactical communication, and improving the readiness of the Armenian peacekeeping unit. The exercise program also includes the preparation and execution of peacekeeping operations, with a focus on medical evacuation procedures.

Azerbaijan

Colonel General Karim Valiyev Visits Pakistan on Military Cooperation Mission 

On August 13, a delegation led by Colonel General Karim Valiyev, the First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, departed for Islamabad at the invitation of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of the Army Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. During the welcoming ceremony, Colonel General Karim Valiyev and Field Marshal Asim Munir inspected the guard of honor in accordance with protocol, and the national anthems of both countries were performed. The ceremony concluded with the laying of a wreath at the Martyrs' monument.

The visit involved a broad exchange of views on the current state and progress of cooperation between the Defense Ministries of Azerbaijan and Pakistan, as well as on issues of common interest. At the end of the meeting, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, on behalf of the leadership of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense, congratulated Field Marshal Asim Munir and the personnel of the Pakistan Army on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day and Marka-e-Haq (Battle of Truth). Following this, Field Marshal Asim Munir was presented with the medal "For Services in the Field of Military Cooperation," awarded by order of the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan.

Colonel General Karim Valiyev also participated in the military parade in Islamabad, organized for the first time in connection with Pakistan’s Independence Day and Marka-e-Haq (Battle of Truth). The parade was attended by the political and military leadership of Pakistan, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, representatives of the Azerbaijani embassy and military attaché's office in Pakistan, and other official guests. Azerbaijan’s presence included a parade contingent from the Azerbaijan Army, alongside military units from other participating countries.

Local Exercises 

On August 14, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, attended the Command Control Point of a live-fire tactical exercise on Maritime Energy Infrastructure Protection, held as part of the current year's training plan. During the exercise, senior commanders briefed the Minister on the progress and outcomes of each operational phase. They emphasized that the exercise involved the Navy's combat, combat support, and supply ships, as well as Naval Special Forces and Marine Infantry units, with the aim of improving the command staff's practical skills in operational decision-making and force deployment in extreme situations.

Participating units executed a series of activities designed to protect and secure energy infrastructure in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. Tactical maneuvers were carried out during both day and night scenarios, on the coast and on islands, to detect temporary bases of a simulated enemy and neutralize terrorist groups through special operations. A high level of professionalism was demonstrated during search and rescue operations and the simulated evacuation of a damaged naval vessel. The exercise focused on controlling ships in complex conditions, organizing interoperability between naval forces and assets, and improving coordination and joint activities. Colonel General Zakir Hasanov positively assessed the performance of the personnel and the successful completion of assigned tasks and issued relevant instructions.

On August 16, training flights were conducted by Air Force aircraft and helicopter units as part of this year's training plan. The program began by testing the pilots’ theoretical knowledge of flight conditions and safety rules, followed by practical flight exercises. Tasks included takeoff and landing from base airfields along designated routes, detection of air and ground targets in coordination with command and control points, and other operational activities. The focus of these training flights was to enhance the combat readiness of aviation units and further develop the practical skills of military pilots.
