Armenian Defense Minister Holds Meeting To Review Military Progress

On June 23, Suren Papikyan, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, chaired a meeting with the adjacent Minister of Defense. During the meeting, heads of relevant units submitted reports on ongoing activities across various armed forces sectors. Following the reports, Papikyan issued directives and instructions to guide future work. 

Suren Papikyan Visits Military Training Center To Inspect Construction 

On June 25, Suren Papikyan, accompanied by Edward Asryan, the First Deputy Minister of Defense and Head of the Armed Forces, and Argishti Mekhakyan, the Governor of Armavir Province, visited a training center of the Armed Forces to assess ongoing construction projects. During the visit, Minister Papikyan inspected the construction site of a modular military unit, observing the final stages, touring the area, and examining the features and living conditions of the modular accommodations. At the visit's conclusion, the Minister addressed heads of relevant divisions and construction company representatives, emphasizing the need to complete the work on schedule and maintain high quality by adhering to construction standards.

Azerbaijan And Serbia Conduct Air Forces Specialist Meeting

On June 24, a specialist meeting occurred in Baku between the Air Forces of Azerbaijan and Serbia. The parties discussed the current status and future capabilities of their respective air forces, addressed topics of mutual interest, and responded to questions from both sides. 

Turkish And Azerbaijani Military Delegations Deepen Cooperation Through Visits And Exercises 

On June 24, the leadership of the Turkish National Defense University’s (NDU) Land Forces Military Institute, along with "Headquarters Management Course" participants led by Vice-Rector Professor Serdar Salman, began a visit to Azerbaijan. The Turkish delegation paid respects by visiting the graves of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, academician Zarifa Aliyeva in the Alley of Honor, the Alley of Martyrs, and the Turkish Martyrs' Cemetery, laying wreaths and flowers. Subsequently, Major General Gunduz Abdulov, Rector of Azerbaijan’s NDU, met with the delegation. After welcoming them, Abdulov outlined recent successful reforms in Azerbaijani military education and innovations aligned with international standards. Highlighting the friendly and fraternal basis of Azerbaijani-Turkish military cooperation, he noted its positive impact on military education in both nations. Professor Salman expressed gratitude for the reception and emphasized the value of mutual visits for experience exchange. The meeting included a detailed discussion on military education reforms within the Azerbaijani Army, followed by a briefing on the Azerbaijan NDU’s history, education system, academic activities, and subordinate institutions. On June 26, a delegation led by Colonel General Karim Valiyev, First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, traveled to Istanbul at the invitation of Army General Metin Gürak, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Türkiye. The visit included observing the "Defender of Peace – 2025" international exercise in Istanbul and participating in the Distinguished Visitors Day of the "Anatolian Eagle – 2025" exercise in Konya. A meeting was also scheduled between Colonel General Valiyev and Türkiye’s Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler. On June 27, the Turkish NDU Land Forces Military Institute leadership and "Headquarters Management Course" participants continued their visit. Major General Ilgar Latifov, Deputy Commander of the Azerbaijan Land Forces, met with the delegation led by Professor Salman. They underscored the importance of military education in enhancing professionalism among servicemen from both countries and the benefits of joint exercises for experience sharing. The discussion covered various mutual interests. The delegation also visited the Land Forces’ Battle Control Center, receiving detailed information on its operations. Additionally, a briefing on the Land Forces’ history, main activities, development, and achievements was provided. On the same day, Colonel General Karim Valiyev observed the "Defender of Peace – 2025" international exercise in Istanbul. He later attended the Distinguished Visitors Day at the "Anatolian Eagle – 2025" exercise in Konya, where participants received a briefing on the exercise’s planning, scenario, objectives, and task execution sequence. The Azerbaijani Air Force contributed pilots, technical personnel, and aircraft to the event. During the visit, Colonel General Valiyev met with Türkiye’s Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Chief of the General Staff Army General Metin Gürak, and National Defense University Rector Professor Erhan Afyoncu. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation based on mutual trust and support. Participants emphasized the strategic alliance’s foundation in friendly and fraternal relations and exchanged views on current and future collaboration in military, military-technical, military education, and other areas of mutual interest. 

Zakir Hasanov Sends Condolences To Pakistan Army Chief

On June 29, Zakir Hasanov, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, sent a letter of condolences to Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of the Army Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. In the letter, Hasanov expressed grief over a terrorist attack in North Waziristan, Pakistan, on June 28, which resulted in the deaths of 13 servicemen and many civilians. He condemned all forms of terrorism and prayed to Almighty Allah for the souls of the victims. Hasanov offered his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded, concluding with, "May Allah rest the souls of the deceased in peace!"

Georgian Deputy Defense Minister Opens New Course On Decision-Making 

On June 23, Paata Patiashvili, the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Georgia, and Colonel Joseph Bilbo, the US Defense Commander in Georgia, officially opened a new course titled "Decision Making in the Conditions of Limited Resources" at the SIP Defense Institutional Reconstruction School (DIBS). During the opening, both speakers highlighted the critical role of rapid decision-making in a dynamic security environment. Colonel Bilbo noted his extensive and successful cooperation experience with Georgia. The course aims to establish an analysis-based decision-making process and introduce modern resource management methods. Key topics include national security policy, military planning, defense economics, program budgeting, and alternative opportunity analysis. In addition to theoretical lessons, the course includes daily simulation exercises, providing participants with practical decision-making experience in realistic scenarios under limited resource constraints. Organized by the Georgian side with US support, the inter-agency course equips security sector representatives with theoretical knowledge and practical skills to improve resource management effectiveness. 

Georgian Leaders Open Military Camp At Sergeant Academy In Kojori

On June 25, Mikheil Kavelashvili, the President of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister, Irakli Chikovani, the Vice Prime Minister and Defense Minister, and Aleksandre Tsuladze, the Minister of Education, Science and Youth, inaugurated a military camp at the Sergeant Academy named after Giorgi Antsukhelidze in Kojori. During the ceremony, Irakli Chikovani thanked the Georgian Government and the Patriarchate for their support and underscored the project’s significance. He highlighted the camp’s opportunities, stating, "With the days spent in the camp, you will gain new opportunities. Your group sergeants sharing knowledge and extensive experience. Your instructors have years of experience so you can take advantage of this opportunity!" Chikovani also noted the camp’s growing success over the past three years, with several thousand students participating at both the Kojori Sergeant Academy and the Sachkheri Mountain Training School. He added, "We are trying to make this project more diverse from year to year and load it with more content." The President, Prime Minister, and Minister of Education addressed the summer camp participants, emphasizing the importance of fostering patriotic spirit among the youth and wishing them success. Following the opening, government officials toured the medical, engineering, fire, and mining training special operations units, as well as the military personnel individual equipment and unmanned flying apparatus training facilities. They also observed a team competition crossing the fences line. Lieutenant General Giorgi Matiashvili, the Commander of the Defense Forces, along with representatives from the Defense Agency, Ministry of Education, and the Patriarchate, attended the event. Simultaneously, the "Army Camp" was launched at the Sachkheri Mining Training School. This year, the camps in Kojori and Sachkheri are expected to host approximately 1,700 students from grades 9 to 11 across eight rotations, with each six-day rotation accommodating 100 children. The Ministry of Defense, together with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, is implementing the "Army Camp" project for the third consecutive year to foster patriotism, promote a healthy lifestyle, and increase awareness of the Georgian army among the younger generation.
