What is the situation on the Goris-Kapan road?

| News, Armenia, Azerbaijan

The Armenian Goris-Kapan road passing through Azerbaijan’s territory was opened on August 27. At the same time, Azerbaijan set a condition to build zigzag blocks on the road. Now, Armenians have to slow down while using this road. This was reported by the Hraparak newspaper.

According to the newspaper, part of the road through Azerbaijan was opened after talks between Azerbaijan and Russia. "Azerbaijanis have laid concrete blocks in two or three places, and the road is almost partially open. Concrete blocks were installed near the posts of Azerbaijani servicemen. When passing this part of the road, the speed of cars is minimized. Because of the concrete blocks, there is a narrow lane for traffic. The Azerbaijani side can easily identify bypassers, which creates additional risks. Especially considering that the country's National Security Service called on everyone to cross the disputed roads without stopping a few months ago. "Future events will show what this road was actually opened for," the publication said.

It should be noted that on August 25, after the alleged attack on a soldier of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan by two Armenian servicemen near the village of Ashagi Cibikli in the Gubadli region, the road connecting the Goris and Kapan regions of Armenia, part of which passes through Azerbaijan, was closed.
