Armenia and France Discuss Bilateral Relations, Karabakh and EU Relations at the Élysée Palace
On November 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan arrived in the Republic of France for a working visit together with his spouse Anna Hakobyan, the press office of the Armenian Prime Minister reported.
On the same day the meeting between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the French President Emmanuel Macron took place at the Élysée Palace.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The importance of the principles established in the quadrilateral Granada Declaration of the Prime Minister of Armenia, the President of France, the Chancellor of Germany and the President of the European Council on the issue of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan was emphasized.
"Reference was made to the humanitarian problems of more than 100,000 people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of Azerbaijan's policy of ethnic cleansing, as well as to the steps taken by the Armenian government to address them. The support of the international community in resolving the existing problems was underlined," the release said.
Issues related to the further deepening and expansion of Armenian-French cooperation in the economy, infrastructure development and other areas were also discussed. The parties expressed their readiness to consistently continue work in this direction.
In addition, Nikol Pashinyan and Emmanuel Macron exchanged views on the issues of regional peace and stability, as well as cooperation between Armenia and the European Union.
