Armenia Could Become Key BRICS Shipping Gateway to Europe

Armenia has the potential to play a key role in logistics for BRICS member states by facilitating the shipment of goods to Europe, according to Sameep Shastri, Vice-Chairman of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Speaking at a conference, Shastri highlighted Armenia’s appeal to BRICS countries, particularly due to its agricultural resources. He noted that BRICS is seeking countries capable of developing their economies and becoming influential players, and he sees Armenia fitting this profile.
Shastri also emphasized Armenia's importance in the BRICS framework, suggesting that the country could become a strategic partner for shipping goods to Europe. Reflecting on his visit to Ararat Province, Shastri expressed admiration for Armenia’s agricultural landscape, which he compared favorably to India’s current conditions. He indicated a mutual interest in exploring investment opportunities between India and Armenia.
Maxim Kuznetsov, President of the Russian-Asian Business Council, echoed Shastri’s sentiments, pointing out that despite Armenia’s relatively small economy, it holds significant potential for cooperation with BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
BRICS is an intergovernmental organization including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.
