Armenia to Appoint Military Attaché to India

| News, Security, Armenia

The Armenian government decided on May 18 to appoint a defense attaché to its embassy in India. The move comes from the strengthening military cooperation between Armenia and India.

The decision to appoint a defense attaché to its embassy in India is reportedly driven by the recent high level of interest demonstrated by state institutions, private organizations, and companies in the military-industrial complex.

The Armenian military attaché in New Delhi will coordinate existing Indian-Armenian defense programs and propose new initiatives.

The decision comes after several defense contracts that Yerevan signed with Indian arms manufacturers in the previous year.

According to reports, Armenia acquired Indian multiple-launch rocket systems, anti-tank rockets, and ammunition valued at $245 million. During Armenia’s Defense Minister Suren Papikyan's visit to India in October, there were discussions about potential further agreements in this regard.
