Armenia-Turkey Border Talks Halted: Rubinyan's Update on Stalled Negotiations

| News, Politics, Armenia

The Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament and Special Representative for Relations with Turkey, Ruben Rubinyan, had an interview with CNN TÜRK, a Turkish TV channel.

Ruben Rubinyan provided official updates on the progress of negotiations between Armenia and Turkey, highlighting that the last official meeting with his Turkish counterpart occurred 1.5 years ago in Vienna. During that meeting, it was agreed to open the Armenian-Turkish border for citizens of third countries and holders of diplomatic passports. However, Rubinyan noted that the Turkish side has yet to take any steps in this regard.

“We are ready to settle Armenian-Turkish relations, but it depends on the political will of the Turkish side. If the Turkish side has such a will, we can solve this issue as early as today,” Rubinyan said.

Meanwhile, Turkey’s special envoy for the normalization of relations with Yerevan, Ambassador Serdar Kılıç, informed Russian news agency RIA Novosti that Turkey and Armenia have agreed to convene another meeting to discuss the normalization of relations. The date and location for this meeting will be determined through mutual agreement.
