Armenian and Georgian Leaders Discuss Cooperation and Border Issues

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan welcomed his Georgian counterpart, Irakli Kobakhidze, who arrived in Armenia for an official visit on March 25.

According to the Armenian PM’s press office, Nikol Pashinyan and Irakli Kobakhidze discussed various aspects of Armenia-Georgia multi-sectoral cooperation. Both parties reiterated their commitment to strengthening cooperation within the framework of the strategic partnership declaration. They emphasized advancing collaboration across political, economic, and humanitarian domains. Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the necessity of consistently boosting trade volumes and touched upon the border delimitation process between Armenia and Georgia.

The two leaders also addressed regional matters of significance. Pashinyan provided updates on developments regarding the Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Treaty. Both sides underscored the importance of safeguarding the territorial integrity of their respective states.

Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the importance of recognizing each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty and discussions on activating the demarcation process between Armenia and Georgia. He highlighted the strategic significance of deepening cooperation with Georgia for regional stability and mutual benefit, noting Georgia's recent status as a candidate country for EU membership, which Armenia supports. Prime Minister Pashinyan also discussed regional processes and Armenia's commitment to peace and stability, including efforts toward normalization of relations with Azerbaijan based on agreed principles. He expressed appreciation for Georgia’s interest and efforts in facilitating relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, mentioning the potential of the “Crossroads of Peace” project in future strategic partnerships.

In his remarks, Kobakhidze thanked Armenia for the warm welcome and emphasized the long history of cooperation and brotherly relations between the two countries. He highlighted the significance of the Declaration of Cooperation in elevating bilateral relations and expressed mutual support for territorial integrity. Both PMs reiterated their commitment to peace, stability, and deepening cooperation between their countries.
