Armenian Defense Minister Discusses Army Reforms with Indian Counterpart

Meeting between Armenian and Indian military officials

On August 30, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan and Head of the National Defense College of India Lieutenant General Sukriti Singh Dahiya discussed reforms in the Armenian army and bilateral cooperation, the Press Service of the Armenian Ministry of Defense reported.

The head of the Armenian military department highly assessed the strengthening ties between Yerevan and New Delhi and the dynamics of the development of Armenian-Indian relations in the defense sphere.

During the meeting, Minister Papikyan presented the delegation from India with information on the progress and prospects of Armenian-Indian cooperation in the military sphere and the situation in the region.

Notably, Yerevan's ties with New Delhi began to actively strengthen after the end of the 44-day war in Karabakh in the fall of 2020. Over the past three years, Armenia and India have made special progress in the sphere of military-technical cooperation and procurement of Indian-made strike and defense systems in Armenia.

Visit of the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia to India

On August 29, during his working visit to India, Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, met with Ajit Kumar Doval, the National Security Advisor to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The parties also conferred about regional security developments, along the lines of which Grigoryan spoke about the current humanitarian crisis of Nagorno-Karabakh and highlighted the importance of the international community's engagement in overcoming this crisis.

In addition, the interlocutors emphasized with satisfaction the development process of Armenian-Indian bilateral relations. They discussed the prospects of developing these relations in several domains.
