On February 8, the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, met with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, Gordan Grlić Radman, who is in Armenia on an official visit. Following the meeting, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Croatia held a joint press conference, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported

Armenian FM said at a joint conference that despite all efforts by Armenia, the situation in the region remains fragile and tense, and the probability of a new escalation is substantial.

“The security challenges resulting from Azerbaijan’s aggression against, and occupation of, the sovereign territory of Armenia in May and November of 2021 and September of 2022 after the 2020 war it unleashed against Nagorno-Karabakh are not only disrupting the Armenian government’s efforts aimed at establishing peace, stability, and security in South Caucasus but are also threatening the Armenian democracy,” Mirzoyan stated

Armenian FM stressed “the need for clear actions by the international community and the implementation of relevant international mechanisms aimed at stopping the illegal blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh, preventing ethnic cleansing of Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and further aggression by Azerbaijan." He also highlighted the importance of deploying an international fact-finding mission to the Lachin corridor and Nagorno-Karabakh.

Withal, Mirzoyan underlined the important role of the EU Monitoring Mission in ensuring stability around the borders of Armenia.

On February 8, the delegation led by Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman was received by the Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan. The latter emphasized the deepening of cooperation with Croatia as an EU member state and noted effective cooperation with the EU in the direction of democracy development in Armenia.

Pashinyan also referred to the steps taken to overcome the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno Karabakh that resulted from "Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor".
