
Armenian Officials Participate in Both "Europe Day" and "Victory Day" Celebrations

On May 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan arrived in the Russian Federation for a working visit and participated in events marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Moscow.
On May 9, Pashinyan attended the military parade held on Red Square, where Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed him alongside other foreign leaders attending the commemorations. Following the parade, the leaders laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
That same day, Pashinyan met with veterans Khachik Hovakimyan and Volodya Gspoyan, who had traveled from Yerevan to Moscow for the anniversary parade. The Armenian Prime Minister congratulated the veterans, conversed with them, and wished them good health.
On May 9 and 10, events celebrating Europe Day were held in Armenia, with key officials highlighting the importance of EU-Armenia relations and cooperation.
On May 9, Davit Karapetyan, Secretary General of Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Vassilis Maragos, Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, addressed a concert event at the Komitas Museum-Institute. Karapetyan stated that “Europe Day symbolizes peace, unity, and commitment to shared values” and emphasized that Armenia has always been part of European civilization, united by a common cultural heritage. He also highlighted the strengthening of Armenia-EU relations, particularly in culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges, and stressed the role of intercultural dialogue in fostering mutual understanding and reinforcing universal values. The event concluded with a solo piano performance by Hayk Melikyan, Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia.
On May 10, Robert Abisoghomonyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, and Vassilis Maragos participated in an official Europe Day event at Freedom Square. Abisoghomonyan reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to deepening its relationship with the EU and emphasized the EU’s role in supporting Armenia’s democratic reforms, strengthening the rule of law, protecting human rights, and modernizing the economy. He also highlighted the EU as a key partner in enhancing Armenia’s resilience. The event, themed “EU-Armenia Cultural Bridge,” featured musical and dance performances by ensembles from Armenia and EU member states, with informational booths showcasing EU-supported programs in Armenia.
