Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the “active” political dialogue between Yerevan and Moscow during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on October 8, the Russian news agency TASS reports.

Pashinyan expressed satisfaction with the frequency and depth of discussions between the two countries, noting that there has been significant engagement over recent months. He referenced a visit by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk and the convening of the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission, where they had substantial discussions on various issues.

“At the beginning of October, we held a meeting of the EAEU intergovernmental council. Within the framework of this event, we discussed the matters of our cooperation and the agenda of the Russian Federation and Armenia with the head of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin. I am happy that today we can recap these discussions,” the Armenian PM mentioned.

Nazeli Baghdasaryan, Press Secretary for Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, shared insights about the outcomes of the meeting between Prime Minister Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin. She highlighted that during the meeting, Prime Minister Pashinyan presented details of Armenia's "Crossroads of Peace" project and provided President Putin with a brochure.

Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia’s narrative concerning regional communications remains consistent in both closed and open discussions. He viewed the results of the meeting with President Putin as positive, noting that a broad range of issues were addressed and concrete agreements were reached in the areas of energy, education, and humanitarian cooperation.

One key agreement stipulates that starting January 1, 2025, the border guard troops of the Armenian National Security Service will participate in protecting the Armenia-Iran and Armenia-Turkey borders. Furthermore, the management of the checkpoint on the Armenia-Iran border will be exclusively handled by the Border Guard troops of the Armenian National Security Service.

Pashinyan expressed gratitude to Putin for the services rendered by the Russian Federal Border Service's border guard troops at the border control point between Armenia and Iran since the country's independence.
