Armenia's Food Safety Agency Reacts to Russia's Plan to Restrict Dairy Imports from Armenia

On March 29, the Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia responded to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia, stating that no violations were found in dairy products exported to the Russian market.
"Food safety violations that threaten human life and health have not been found. The production of dairy products, as well as the entire food production chain, is properly controlled by the Food Safety Inspection Authority," the Armenian government agency said. Yerevan also drew attention to the fact that the statement of the Rosselkhoznadzor [Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision] concerns the chain of import of raw materials from Iran, its use in the production of dairy products in Armenia, and further export to Russia exclusively.
Earlier, the Rosselkhoznadzor informed that it would consider the issue of imposing restrictions on the import of dairy products from Armenia to the Russian Federation due to poor control and violations of restrictive measures by the Armenian side. According to preliminary information received from the Armenian side, Armenian milk processing enterprises use raw materials produced by Iranian enterprises, against which restrictive measures have been introduced by Rosselkhoznadzor, the Russian ministry said.
