Azerbaijan and Armenia Brief Diplomats on Karabakh Tensions

On September 8, Azerbaijan informed representatives of diplomatic missions, and Armenia informed military attachés about the tension.

At a briefing held for the diplomatic corps with the participation of Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, Hikmat Hajiyev, the Assistant to the President of the country, and Elchin Amirbeyov, the President's representative on special tasks, it was stated that Armenia's goal is to maintain separatism by all possible means in the territory of Azerbaijan.

According to the information, after the establishment of a legal border post in Lachin, Azerbaijan repeatedly appealed to the Armenian side to establish business relations between relevant state institutions, including customs and border services, to ensure the smooth passage of the border, but the gestures remained unanswered by Yerevan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the issue of the simultaneous use of Aghdam-Khankendi and Lachin roads was discussed in detail during high-level relations with the United States. "Azerbaijan said it is ready for their simultaneous opening. The American side welcomed this and instructed to deliver this message to the Armenian side. However, this agreement did not materialize either," the report added.

On September 8, a briefing was held at the Ministry of Defense of Armenia with the participation of military attachés of foreign countries and representatives accredited in Armenia.

According to the information, the military attachés were presented with the current operational situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border during the briefing. "It was reported that the situation due to the concentration of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the last two days continues to be tense, therefore, the Armenian Armed Forces continue to take necessary measures to stabilize it and prevent provocations," the ministry said.
