Azerbaijan and Israel Discuss Cooperation in Economy and Security
On May 8, a significant diplomatic dialogue took place as Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, met with Aliza Bin Nun, the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel. The meeting, held to discuss strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations, touched upon the ongoing cooperation between the two nations in areas such as economy, security, and high technologies.
Minister Bayramov briefed Aliza Bin Nun during the discussions on the regional situation following recent conflicts. The meeting also allowed both parties to exchange views on pressing international and regional concerns.
On May 9, during her visit, Aliza Bin Nun paid her respects at the graves of Albert Agarunov, a celebrated Jewish National Hero of Azerbaijan, and Hazi Aslanov, a two-time Hero of the Soviet Union during the battle against fascism, located in Martyrs' Alley.
During her visit, Aliza Bin Nun admired Azerbaijan's commitment to religious tolerance and equality. "Azerbaijan is the home of a free and prosperous Jewish community. Today, I paid tribute to the National Hero of Azerbaijan, the son of the local Jewish community, Albert Agarunov, at his grave. At a time when anti-Semitism is intensifying in the world, it is heartening to see the freedom and equality enjoyed by the Jewish community in Azerbaijan," she stated.
Additionally, Bin Nun acknowledged the sacrifices made during the Second World War by visiting the Memorial of Heroes in Baku on Victory Day. "Their courage against evil stands as a beacon of freedom and tolerance. Today, the world faces new threats from the forces of terror and hatred, from Hamas to Iran, which seeks the genocide of Jews. However, we stand firm in defending the State of Israel against such evils," she remarked.
