During his visit to Tbilisi on June 23, Alikhan Smailov, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, in a meeting with Irakli Garibashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia, noted the main role of the transit and transport sector in the cooperation between Kazakhstan and Georgia.

"Kazakhstan and Georgia are actively cooperating within the framework of the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route [Middle Corridor]. We are interested in increasing the transport connections of the region and consistently improving transit conditions. In these plans, we certainly take into account the transit and transport potential of Georgia," Smailov emphasized.

Irakli Garibashvili said that Georgia and Kazakhstan are developing the Middle Corridor together. "We must be ready to work actively in the coming years to realize long-term perspectives," Garibashvili said.

During the negotiations, the heads of government of Kazakhstan and Georgia discussed the possibilities of increasing mutual trade, developing transport infrastructure, creating a single logistics operator on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, and digitalizing cargo flow. Within the framework of the visit, a tripartite Agreement was signed between "Kazakhstan Railway" JSC and "Georgian Railway" JSC on establishing a joint venture and the main principles of its activity. This document was signed with "Azerbaijan Railways" SJSC in Baku a day ago.

In addition, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the further development of cooperation at the Batumi oil terminal.

Notably, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia are creating a single logistics company. It will deal with issues of uniform tariff policy, cargo management, and simplification of transport processes for members of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. As a result of the company's activity, it is expected that the transit time of cargo from China to Europe and back will be reduced to 10-15 days.
