Azerbaijan Refutes Pashinyan's Genocide Claims in Nagorno-Karabakh
On August 31, the regular Cabinet meeting was chaired by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Press Office of the Armenian Prime Minister reported.
Pashinyan noted, "Yesterday, ten more trucks were added to the 22 trucks loaded with humanitarian cargo waiting for the opportunity to enter Nagorno-Karabakh in the Kornidzor section of Syunik Province, near the Lachin corridor. The delegation led by the Mayor of Paris accompanied the humanitarian convoy sent by several regions of France to Kornidzor. However, neither this nor the convoy parked in the same area since July 26 was given the opportunity to enter Nagorno Karabakh." He said: "This means that Azerbaijan, in the presence of the peacekeeping troops of the Russian Federation, continues the policy of subjecting the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to genocide through starvation. The main goal of that policy is to rid the territory of Nagorno Karabakh from Armenians."
He emphasized, "Efforts to focus international attention on the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh must continue. The decisions of the International Court of Justice of February 22 and July 6 of this year should be at the core of that attention. With those decisions, the court obliged Azerbaijan to take all possible measures to guarantee the uninterrupted movement of citizens, vehicles, and cargo in both directions through the Lachin Corridor. I draw attention to this wording of the court: 'uninterrupted movement in both directions.'"
On the same day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan commented on some of the views expressed by Nikol Pashinyan at the government meeting held on August 31.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, the fact that Nikol Pashinyan, who accused Azerbaijan of carrying out the genocide, 'cheapened' this word so much without any reason is a manifestation of Armenia's irresponsible 'manipulation' activity.
"Regarding the allegation about the unilateral opening of the Lachin road and plans to expel Armenian residents, we would like to state that currently, conditions are being created for Armenian residents to pass through the Lachin border checkpoint in both directions. It is absurd to blame the Azerbaijani side for carrying out the policy of ethnic cleansing in the region," the ministry emphasized.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan believes that the Armenian side, which carried out genocide against Azerbaijanis living in the territory of present-day Armenia until the end of the 1980s, thinks that every state applies the same approach.
