Azerbaijan Sends Protest Note to Iran Amid Confrontation Between Baku and Tehran
On April 3, Aykhan Hajizada, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, informed the public about the latest developments between Azerbaijan and Iran.
"With reference to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Azerbaijan, it is reported that Iran has submitted a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan to prevent anti-Iranian broadcasts and articles in the Azerbaijani media. How would you interpret this message?" he was asked.
"The said note from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was received on April 3. On the same day, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Seyid Abbas Mousavi, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan," the report said.
"Emphasizing that what was mentioned in the note of the Iranian side about the Azerbaijani media does not reflect objectivity, a reply note was presented to the Iranian side, as well as a list of several articles published in the Iranian media against Azerbaijan. Insulting, false, slanderous and biased information about government officials, as well as untrue statements and speeches of well-known social and political figures of Iran, damage relations between our countries and deepen misunderstandings," Hajizada said.
"Besides, it was noted that the misunderstandings that have arisen in the relations between our countries have always been caused by the unilateral behavior and steps of the Iranian side, and the consistent and well-intentioned steps of the Azerbaijani side have not been adequately reciprocated by Iran. During the meeting, the necessity of taking measures to prevent the spread of false and biased information against Azerbaijan in the Iranian media was emphasized," the information concluded.
