Azerbaijani Defense Minister Visits Turkey to Participate in Military Exercises

On May 11, at the invitation of Hulusi Akar, the Minister of National Defense of Turkey, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, arrived on a visit to Turkey to watch the "Anatolian Eagle - 2023" International Exercises held in the city of Konya, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.

The Distinguished Visitors Day of the "Anatolian Eagle - 2023" International Flight-Tactical Exercises were held in Turkish Konya. 

After the briefing, the Defense Ministers of Azerbaijan and Turkey delivered speeches. Colonel General Hasanov noted that "Anatolian Eagle - 2023" International Flight-Tactical Exercises, held in Konya, Turkey, and the "Heydar Aliyev - 2023" Exercises, held in Kars, Turkey, are aimed at further improving the knowledge and skills of servicemen.

Then Akar delivered a speech and highly appreciated the conduct of the joint exercises. Noting the importance of developing military cooperation, Akar emphasized that the exercises are crucial for service members to gain experience and that military cooperation is aimed at the security of the two peoples and countries and stability in the region.

It should be noted that the exercises, with the involvement of a group of military personnel and Su-25 attack aircraft of the Azerbaijan Air Force, are held with the participation of representatives of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and the United Kingdom. The delegations from the USA, Australia, Ethiopia, Morocco, France, Georgia, Sweden, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia, Libya, Malaysia, and Jordan participate as observers in the "Anatolian Eagle - 2023" International Flight-Tactical Exercises.

Moreover, on May 12, the servicemen of the Azerbaijan Naval Force participated in the "Kurtaran - 2023" underwater search and rescue exercises held in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. According to the plan of the exercises, the tasks of searching for the sunken submarine using robots, assessing its state, rescuing the crew, and providing them with food and medical supplies through divers were accomplished.

Notably, 37 representatives from 17 countries participated in the international exercises.
