Chechnya Provides Temporary Housing for 9,000 Families in Syria
Akhmed Dudayev, the Minister of the Chechen Federal Republic for National Policy, Foreign Relations, Press, and Information, said that more than 183 tons of humanitarian aid had already been sent from the republic to Syria and Turkey for the victims of the earthquake.
"On the instructions of the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, the region is actively working to collect humanitarian aid for Syria and Turkey. Over 200 tons of aid were collected in the republic in a few days. In addition, as part of the instructions of the head of the region, 9,000 Syrian families left homeless after the earthquake were provided with temporary housing," Dudayev said.
According to him, humanitarian supplies sent from Chechnya include warm clothes (men's, women's, and children's), baby food, diapers, blankets, pillows, electric generators, mattresses, tents, sleeping bags, flashlights, and food.
Humanitarian aid was organized by the Regional Public Foundation, named after the first President of the Chechen Republic, Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov, together with the social organization Khaira.
Notably, on February 6, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake with at least six aftershocks struck near the Turkish-Syrian border region, causing at least 45000 fatalities.
