Ararat Mirzoyan Receives Members of OSCE Assessment Mission

On October 22, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received the OSCE needs assessment mission, headed by Colonel Robert Arkadiusz Tkaczyk, the representative of Poland, the chairing country in the OSCE, the Press Office of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

"Welcoming the members of the mission, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that the OSCE needs an assessment mission in Armenia, the necessity of which occurred following Azerbaijan's aggression against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia on September 13-14, fully corresponds to the organization's mandate and objectives," report said.

The decision to send an OSCE needs assessment mission to the Republic of Armenia based on Armenia's appeal was made by the OSCE Chairmanship and the Secretariat, taking into account the relevant decisions of the OSCE Ministerial Council, which were adopted with the agreement of all participating countries of the Organization.

"The Foreign Minister of Armenia expressed hope that the mission's activities, observations, and the final report will be a source of objective information about the situation resulting from the Azerbaijani aggression against the OSCE Chairmanship, Secretariat, and the member states, as well as will play a role in preventing new possible aggressions and establishing sustainable peace in the region," it added.

The representative of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces in the meeting briefed the mission members on the current situation in the border regions.

Nikol Pashinyan Receives the European Parliament's Standing Rapporteur on Armenia

On the same day, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Andrey Kovatchev, the European Parliament's Standing Rapporteur on Armenia, the Press Office of the Armenian Prime Minister reported.

The Prime Minister appreciated the activity of Kovatchev and the cooperation with the European Parliament, which stems from the interest in the agenda of democratic reforms of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the mediation efforts of the EU toward achieving peace in the region and attached importance to the EU observation mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

"The interlocutors exchanged thoughts on the course of democratic reforms, regional issues, the situation around Nagorno Karabakh, border delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and other issues. Nikol Pashinyan referred to the issue of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages, and other detained persons kept in Azerbaijan until now. He expressed gratitude to the European Parliament for the resolutions adopted to ensure their return and emphasized the continuous efforts of the European Parliament in this direction," the report stated.

Within the framework of the meeting, reference was made to the report to be published by the European Parliament shortly.
