"Georgian Dream" Ceases Its Work in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

| News, Politics, Georgia

The head of the Georgian delegation, Tea Tsulukiani, has announced that "Georgian Dream" is ceasing its work in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

She stated that the conditions and reservations in the adopted resolution on Georgia were "unacceptable, unfair, and unfounded."

According to Tsulukiani, PACE's demand for new elections "violates Georgia's sovereignty and ignores the will of more than 1,120,000 voters" who supported "Georgian Dream," making it categorically unacceptable.

"Accepting this condition on our part would be tantamount to betraying our electorate and, therefore, the overwhelming majority of our society... Based on the above, we, the members of the Georgian parliamentary delegation in Strasbourg, are ceasing our work in PACE as of today," Tsulukiani declared, emphasizing that this was a "unanimous decision of 'Georgian Dream'."

At the same time, she clarified that Georgia remains a member of the Council of Europe and that its work in PACE will resume "when the unfair treatment changes and the blackmail stops."
