Georgian Dream Rejects Ukrainian Invitation to Participate in Anniversary of Russo-Ukrainian War
On February 20, Giorgi Vashadze, the leader of Strategy Agmashenebeli, said that the Rada of Ukraine sent an official invitation to the Georgian Dream parliamentary delegation to participate in an event dedicated to the first anniversary of the Russo-Ukrainian war, but they refused to go.
Giorgi Vashadze noted in his video that the attitude of the Georgian Dream is insulting. "I am in Moldova, at the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, and I have just learned that Georgian Dream received an official invitation from the Ukrainian Rada for the parliamentary delegation for February 24, in connection with the first anniversary of the war, and they refused to go. They hid information about this from all of us. That is why, on February 24, in Tbilisi, on Rustaveli, we should all gather to make the voice of our Georgian people heard by these really worthless people. The attitude of Georgian Dream is really shocking and insulting."
"One year after the full-scale invasion of Russia, the Ukrainian parliament invited the lawmakers from Georgia on February 24 along with representatives from other national parliaments, but the governing party declined," Vashadze added.
According to Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, the topic was discussed during a conversation among the friendship group's leaders. It was said that Georgia showed a level of sympathy with Ukraine that no other nation in a comparable circumstance would display. He said that despite Georgia not being covered by the economic solidarity of the European Union or the NATO umbrella, it is the loudest in international settings.
