On the air of the Imedi TV channel, Rati Bregadze, the head of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, said that the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine did not apply to the Ministry of Justice of Georgia with a request to provide an opportunity to extradite to Kyiv for interrogation the former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, who is in custody. 

"We have not received such an official request, but there are grounds for refusal even if there was such a request. If a criminal prosecution is underway against a particular person, then a negative answer is unambiguous. As you know, Saakashvili was convicted in Georgia in two criminal cases, and trials are underway in three more cases," the Minister said. At the same time, Bregadze did not rule out the possibility of interrogation of Saakashvili by Ukrainian lawyers in Georgia. "The only theoretical possibility for Saakashvili to have his sentence suspended is a decision by a Georgian court based on an appropriate medical report," Bregadze said. At the same time, he noted that Saakashvili's condition in the Vivamedi civilian clinic, where he has been staying for five months, is not critical, as his lawyers say.
