Georgian Soldiers Depart for Central African Republic to Assist EU-led Training
On November 8, a detachment of troops from the 10th rotation squad of the Georgian Defense Forces National Guard departed for the Central African Republic (CAR) to assist with the EU-led military training operation (EUTM RCA).
The troops, who will work for the EU-led operation in Bangui's capital city and be stationed at the Mpoko facility, will be supervised by Captain Tornike Garibashvili.
According to the Georgian Defense Ministry, the primary responsibilities of the Georgian peacekeepers will be base security, motorized patrols, convoying, and escorting.
The EU Military Advisory Mission in the Central African Republic (EUMAM RCA), to which Georgia has been providing five officers since October 2015, is replaced by the EUTM RCA.
