Deutsche Welle reported that the number of migrants deported from Germany in 2023 has increased, among whom Georgian citizens represent the largest number.

In the first six months of 2023, 7,861 people were deported from Germany between January and June, a 27% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the German Interior Ministry. Of those deported, 1,664 were women, and 1,375 were minors.

Statistics showed that most deportees were from Georgia, North Macedonia, Albania and Serbia. The number of people who left the country voluntarily also increased. Four thousand eight hundred ninety-two people received federal funding for repatriation, and 2,309 people received state or local funding.

According to the law, those whose asylum application is rejected or whose visa or residence permit has expired must leave Germany.
