Irakli Garibashvili in Budapest: "Georgia Deserves EU Candidate Status"

| News, Politics, Georgia

At the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Budapest on May 4, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili gave a speech in which he thanked Prime Minister Orbán and praised him as a wise and visionary national leader. He complimented Hungary for upholding its core principles and defending its national interests, describing Prime Minister Orbán as an exemplary politician (ruler), fighter, and striving Christian man.

"Georgia is aware of the cost of maintaining peace," the prime minister said, adding that when necessary, we fight selflessly to protect our freedom, our families, and our homeland. "Georgia was the Resolute Support Mission's greatest per-capita contributor in Afghanistan," he emphasized, underscoring the country's dedication to peace efforts. "In this expedition, 32 courageous Georgian troops lost their lives, while hundreds were injured," the official added.

The prime minister warned against forces supporting LGBT+ propaganda and gender-affirming procedures for children and coercing false freedoms to destroy conventional values and subjugate the populace. He declared that traditional, Christian, conservative family values served as our main weapon and foundation. He vowed to uphold the rights of the majority, who view marriage as the union of a man and a woman. He said, "The family is a marriage between a man and a woman in which the man serves as the father and the woman as the mother."

The prime minister emphasized, "I want to state once again that Georgia has a rightful place in Europe - Georgia deserves the EU candidate status!"

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that his country could learn how a small country should manage to live in the shadow of Russia while preserving its values. "I see some colleagues in the hall; I see the people I especially appreciate. Here is the Prime Minister from Georgia; we can learn a lot from him; we can learn how a small country should manage to live in the shadow of Russia while preserving its own values. His knowledge is really appreciated in this regard. I wish you success," Viktor Orbán said.
