Kadyrov Vows Retaliation After Attack on Special Forces University

| News, Security, North Caucasus

At 6:30 [local time] on October 29, an unmanned aerial attack set fire to the roof of an unoccupied building within the Russian University of Special Forces (RUS) in Gudermes.

Chechen head Ramzan Kadyrov reported no casualties, confirming the fire had been extinguished. Investigative authorities are working to identify those responsible. Despite the incident, the RUS remains fully operational, with all services running as usual.

Kadyrov vowed to retaliate against those behind the attack, declaring, “They ‘bit’ us, we will destroy them. We will show in the near future such retribution that even they have not dreamed of.” Additionally, Kadyrov directed Chechen unit commanders in the Special Military Operation (SVO) zone not to take Ukrainian soldiers prisoner, instructing them to intensify efforts against Ukrainian forces. “I gave an order today to all commanders who are on the front line not to take prisoners, to destroy and intensify the fight so that they understand how Chechens can still supplement their military capabilities,” he stated.

During a subsequent meeting at the RUS, Kadyrov discussed the attack and addressed questions from journalists. He emphasized that the RUS, named after Vladimir Putin, is a vital training center, producing skilled fighters who play key roles at the front lines and are credited with securing numerous strategic points. While no Russian personnel suffered casualties in the attack, Kadyrov noted that Ukrainian captives stationed at the RUS were injured. He stated, “There are up to 10 Ukrainian captives at each strategic site in the republic, including on the territory of the RUF. Kyiv, trying to harm us, today killed its own soldiers. Henceforth, Ukraine should realize that it harms its own citizens first of all with such attacks.”

According to Kadyrov, the attack has only “strengthened the resolve of Russian fighters.” He warned that Ukraine’s forces should expect severe retribution and affirmed his confidence in the commanders’ commitment to the task. “The Chechen people have never allowed and will never allow anyone to encroach on their own. We have all the necessary resources and capabilities to confront the enemies of our state,” Kadyrov asserted. The meeting also covered recent developments on the front line, with Kadyrov stating that Russian forces hold the initiative and are achieving favorable outcomes in critical areas, supported by adequate supplies of weapons and equipment.

Concluding his remarks, Kadyrov addressed Chechen men, urging them to embody religious and cultural values. He advised young men living idle lifestyles to join the Russian forces, stating, “You should prove your commitment to religion and national interests on the battlefield.”
