Kazakhstan's President Offers Astana as Venue for Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Negotiations
On September 9, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kazakhstan, called Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan.
Tokayev began by congratulating Aliyev on the successful parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan and the decisive victory of the New Azerbaijan Party. President Aliyev expressed his appreciation for the congratulations.
Tokayev also acknowledged Aliyev’s participation in the Consultative Meeting of Heads of States of Central Asia, and President Aliyev thanked him for the invitation to this event. Tokayev extended congratulations on the successful organization of the 5th World Nomad Games in Kazakhstan, noting the active involvement of Azerbaijani athletes.
The conversation also highlighted the upcoming Azerbaijan Cultural Days in Kazakhstan, which both leaders noted with satisfaction. They reaffirmed the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
Tokayev offered Astana as a potential venue for negotiations on a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, a proposal Azerbaijan found acceptable. The leaders also discussed various bilateral agenda items during the call.
