Lelo Party Secretary General: "Problems Will Exist Until Georgian Dream is in Power"

| News, Politics, Georgia

On January 11, Badri Japaridze, the Secretary General of the Lelo party, stated that Georgia should try to take advantage of this opportunity while it still exists. "The measures needed for quick enlargement of the European Union would not be implemented until the Georgian Dream is replaced," he added.

Japaridze also addressed the governing team's criticisms of American General Ben Hodges' remarks, claiming that their criticisms reveal an anti-democratic and anti-Western line of argument. "The Georgian Dream speakers have been using rhetoric to the effect that our Western allies are attempting to drag us into the conflict. The line established by the Georgian Dream is obvious to everybody. This is perverse language intended to mislead people. These evaluations and findings stem from a propaganda narrative that is erroneous and hostile to national interests," Badri Japaridze said.

He contended that all efforts should be made to ensure that Georgia soon achieves EU candidate status rather than targeting the Ukrainian government. Furthermore, he claimed that the issues gathered by the ruling party will continue until a coalition administration is not elected. "There are issues that Georgian Dream has amassed - often purposefully, sometimes through its negligence. As long as the Georgian Dream remains in power, these issues will persist. The goal should be to unseat this administration in the next elections and install a democratic coalition government that can address these issues," Badri Japaridze concluded.
