On February 26, Aslan Bzhania, the de-facto leader of occupied Abkhazia, along with Inal Ardzinba, the de-facto Foreign Minister, revealed that Moscow is pushing to relocate the Geneva International Discussions to a different location.

They mentioned that Minsk and Baku are currently being considered as alternative venues. Ardzinba, while presenting the report on the activities of the de-facto ministry, highlighted that the Russian Foreign Ministry believes Geneva no longer provides equal conditions for the participants of the negotiation process. Aslan Bzhania noted that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov raised this issue during his visit to Moscow. "Regarding the Geneva discussions, during our last meeting with Mr. Lavrov, he mentioned that this platform has largely exhausted itself. He asked if the Abkhazian side would object to continuing work to find a more suitable venue. We discussed options including the capital of Belarus, Minsk, or other capitals of the most neutral former Soviet Union states," Bzhania stated.

Ardzinba added that Azerbaijan, particularly the capital, Baku, is also considered a potential venue for the talks.
