
New president appointed to SOCAR

Rovshan Najaf was appointed the president of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR). In this regard, the Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, signed an order.
According to the decree, Rovshan Najaf was first released from the position of the first vice-president of SOCAR. Then he was appointed the head of SOCAR by the corresponding decree.
Rovshan Najaf was born on April 9, 1982, in Baku. In 2001, he graduated from the Faculty of International Economic Relations of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics with a bachelor's degree. In 2003, he graduated with a master's degree. In 2007-2008, he completed the Master's program in "Management of Economic Policy/International Energy Management and Policy" at Columbia University, USA. In his professional career, he worked as a 3rd-level state adviser, Deputy Minister of Economy (2020–2021), and First Deputy Minister of Economy (2020–2021). Rovshan Najaf is a Doctor of Philosophy in economics.
Earlier, Caucasus Watch reported that Rovnag Abdullayev was dismissed from the post of SOCAR President (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan). President Ilham Aliyev made such a decision and appointed him Deputy Minister of Economy by another decision.
