Nikol Pashinyan Comments on External Security, Judicial Problems, Nagorno-Karabakh Peace Agenda

On July 5, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan congratulated fellow citizens on Constitution Day, calling external security one of the most serious challenges for the republic and its constitutional order.

"Our problems in the field of external security are known to each of you, and here we are faced with very serious challenges. At the same time, I am sure that the peace agenda adopted by the government has no alternative since peace is the most reliable factor of our sovereignty and security," the message said.

At the same time, Pashinyan warned that the implementation of the peace agenda is not guaranteed because it depends not only on Armenia. But, according to him, it is obvious and indisputable that the Armenian state must make all legitimate efforts to achieve peace in the region. "In this context, the creation of appropriate mechanisms to ensure the rights and security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and the recognition of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia with an area of 29.8 thousand square kilometers is of key importance," the head of government noted in his message.

He thinks that another key problem for modern Armenia is reforms in the country's judicial system. "Here, although there has been significant progress, nevertheless, the judicial and legal system does not always respond to cases of offenses with due promptness and efficiency," the prime minister said. "Many processes of social and state significance, sometimes for objective, and sometimes for subjective reasons, continue for years, causing fair public bewilderment. We are also witnessing bewildering phenomena in the sphere of civil and administrative relations," Pashinyan said.
