Public Opinion in Azerbaijan Favors Peace with Armenia: Survey Shows 78.5% Support

The governmental Social Research Center conducted regular surveys among the population in order to study public opinion on the prospects of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. According to the results of the next poll conducted in November of this year, the question "Do you support the signing of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia?" 78.5% of the respondents answered, "Yes, I support," and 20.2% answered, "No, I do not support." 1.3% had difficulty expressing their opinion.

According to the results, there was an increase in the number of respondents expressing their support for peace over age. 74.1% of those with secondary education and 86.9% of those with higher education expressed their support for the signing of the peace agreement. "To what extent do you believe that a peace treaty will be signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia and diplomatic relations will be established soon?" in response to the question, 37.2% said that they fully believed, and 29.7% said that they mostly believed. 9.7% of those who took part in the survey said that they mostly did not believe, and 21.5% said that they did not believe at all. 1.8% found it difficult to answer.

Among the survey respondents, 42.8% of men and 31.6% of women expressed full belief that a peace agreement would be signed soon. Additionally, 27.3% of men and 32.1% of women indicated that they mostly believed in the likelihood of such an agreement. An increase in the number of those who expressed their belief that the peace agreement will be signed has already been recorded.

The surveys were conducted on November 25-28, 2023, using computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) among 390 respondents over the age of 18. The selection was determined proportionally to the distribution of the country's population by the probabilistic method, and the gender balance was maintained. Except for the Nakhchivan and East Zangezur economic regions, 12 economic regions were included in the sample.
