The head of North Ossetia, Sergei Menyailo, announced the deaths of servicemen from republic during Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The head of the region wrote in his telegram channel about the losses among fellow countrymen, without specifying the number of dead: "Unfortunately, there are dead among our fellow countrymen doing their military duty in Ukraine. I condole with family and friends, mourn with them."

The head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov, the head of Kalmykia Batu Khasikov, the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Kabardino-Balkaria Kazbek Kokov, the head of Ingushetia Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, the governor of the Krasnodar Territory Veniamin Kondratyev and the governor of the Astrakhan region Igor have already announced the death of Russian military personnel during the invasion of Ukraine.

In Volgograd, the people's memorial destroyed near the niches of Kyiv and Odessa on Mamayev Kurgan

Residents of Volgograd, who came to the granite niches in honour of the hero cities of Kyiv and Odessa, found that the bouquets laid over the previous few days had disappeared. Police were on duty at the location and wrote down the passport data of everyone who placed flowers and honoured the memory of those killed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

At the initiative of the socio-political project "Dozor," since February 27, residents of Volgograd have been laying flowers near the niches of Ukrainian hero cities, expressing their protest against hostilities. The townspeople who came on March 1 found that all the bouquets had disappeared.

According to project manager Yevgeny Kochegin, the people's memorial demonstrated to the authorities and citizens that there are those who disagree with the official position. "The purpose of the action was to create a people's place of memory, so that passers-by could see that there are many who oppose the war, they are not alone, there is no need to be afraid to express their opinion.”

He added that a police patrol was on duty, asking for documents from everyone laying flowers at the granite niches of Kyiv and Odessa.

Official statistics on coronavirus declined against the backdrop of the war with Ukraine in Russia's southern regions

Restrictive measures, like the QR code system, are being phased out in several Russian areas, including the South and North Caucasus, and conventional hospitals will replace covid hospitals.

At the same time, when it came to filling public catering venues, Rospotrebnadzor abolished anti-COVID prohibitions. The authorities ascribe this to a fall in the number of cases, as well as the lifting of the limitations in the wake of Russia's armed invasion of Ukraine.

Anti-COVID efforts have faded into the background against the backdrop of conflicts in Ukraine, according to Leonid Zaprudin, the former head of the Parnassus party's Krasnodar branch, "the decision of Rospotrebnadzor just consolidates the existing practice."

Commenting on the abrupt removal of almost all anti-COVID measures, Yana Antonova, a paediatrician, and ex-coordinator of the Krasnodar branch of the Open Russia movement, stated its connection with Russia's military aggression.

"I believe that such a decision relates to the situation in Ukraine. The Russians are already facing severe trials, in fact, default and the impossibility of fulfilling foreign exchange obligations, the economy will return to the instability of the early 1990s. Against this background, keeping anti-COVID restrictions, which, according to epidemiological indicators, could have long been to remove it means to annoy the Russians once again," the interlocutor believes.
