Romanian Defense Minister Meets High-level Georgian Officials in Tbilisi
Meeting with Irakli Garibashvili
In a news statement from the Georgian government, Minister Dîncu and Prime Minister Garibashvili spoke about the collaboration between Georgia and Romania and ties to NATO and the EU.
The same press release mentioned that the two parties focused on upcoming defense-related preparations while also noting the recently signed statement on forging strategic cooperation between the two nations. Georgia's European perspective was also brought up during the meeting between the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense. At this point, Prime Minister Garibashvili emphasized that the Georgian government is ready to fulfill its obligations to swiftly achieve progress on the path to joining the European Union.
The politicians also discussed Georgia's NATO aspirations while emphasizing Romania's important role in carrying out the substantial NATO-Georgia Package. The parties discussed security challenges surrounding the Black Sea.
Meeting with Juansher Burchuladze
According to the Georgian Defense Ministry, the two ministers reviewed the regional security situation and problems. They drew particular attention to the significance of stability and growth in the Black Sea area.
"Georgia's key partner is Romania, both in defense and political directions, and it engages very actively in the procedures that affect Georgia's integration into European defense and other organizations," Minister Burchuladze noted.
The two sides underlined that collaboration with Romania is crucial for enhancing defense capabilities, military education, and conducting joint exercises, as well as Romania's continuous participation in the EU Monitoring Mission while addressing prospects for bilateral defense cooperation (EUMM).
The parties also acknowledged Romania's steadfast support for Georgia's territorial integrity, NATO membership, and sovereignty. They stressed the need for collaboration between the two nations to maintain peace in the Black Sea area, prevent Russian aggression, and combat hybrid threats.
