On November 29, a resolution on the "European perspective of the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, and the Western Balkans" was approved by the Romanian Parliament. The Romanian Senate and Chamber of Deputies approved the measure.

"The resolution emphasized that Romania, as a strategic partner of Georgia, confirms its strong support for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Georgia, taking into account the importance of the principles and goals of the declaration of the strategic partnership signed in 2022 for both countries. The document mentions the role of connectivity in the consolidation of stability, security, and prosperity in the Black Sea, as well as its importance for integration into the European space. The EU's enlargement policy is recognized as the most successful tool for stimulating democratic transformation in the Eastern Neighborhood and the Western Balkans," the report added.

"The Romanian Parliament strongly supports the progress of the European integration of Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia and also calls for continued European support so that Georgia can take further steps on the way to European integration, including receiving the status of a candidate for EU membership. This spirit is based on the clear pro-European orientation of Georgian citizens, as well as the expectation that Georgia will continue its efforts for the comprehensive and sustainable implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission," the information added.

"The resolution focuses on the need for increased EU efforts to ensure peace, stability, and security in the Eastern neighborhood, as well as underlines the need to develop all dimensions of EU connectivity for the region's countries. The Romanian Parliament expresses its full readiness to cooperate and support the parliaments of the candidate countries to promote the progress of these countries' accession to the European Union," the ministry concluded.

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili thanked the Romanian Parliament for adopting a resolution on the European perspective of Georgia. Darchiashvili said the Georgian Government highly appreciated Romania’s support, especially at such a decisive moment on the EU accession path.

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili also thanked the Romanian Parliament for adopting a resolution on the European perspective of Georgia. "At this crucial time for our nation’s European aspirations, your solidarity holds immense significance. The endorsement from both chambers of the Romanian Parliament is invaluable as we navigate this pivotal phase on our journey towards EU accession," Papuashvili noted.
