Russia Conducts Exercises at Its Military Base Base in Armenia

On April 12, artillery units of the Southern Military District's military base in Armenia hit mock enemy targets at the Alagyaz high-mountain training ground as part of a control check for the winter training period. 

"Artillerymen destroyed single and group targets at ranges from 1 to 15 km, using the skills of working on navigation equipment, a ballistic station, a gyrocompass, and modern means of communication. The direct fire also carried out the task of firing in conditions of limited visibility," the message said.

The servicemen of the Southern Military District completed the artillery carousel - a quick retreat to the reloading area and firing from new positions, which made it possible to increase the survivability of artillery batteries. Reconnaissance activities were carried out; maneuvering during the battle, camouflaging, and using deceptive actions with the artillery of a mock enemy was practiced.

"Reconnaissance of the location of targets of a mock enemy, the course of preparing for firing at stationary and fast moving targets, simulating the landing of an enemy tactical landing in the highlands, were organized in cooperation with the crews of unmanned aerial vehicles," the military department noted.

The crews of the army aviation of the military base of the Southern Military District carried out fire support for motorized rifle units. More than 120 military personnel of the flight and engineering staff took part in the training flights, and about 20 units of military and special equipment were involved, including army aviation helicopters Mi-8MTV-5 and Ka-52.
