On April 5, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated, "Long pauses in the negotiation process are fraught with increased tension in the region, the responsibility for which will fall entirely on the initiators of blocking the political dialogue. Representatives of [the separatist] Abkhazia and South Ossetia [Tskhinvali Region] spoke in unison with the Russian delegation."

Moscow also added: "The unceasing attempts of the collective West to transfer the logic of confrontation from Ukraine to the South Caucasus, which is expressed in provocative calls for Tbilisi to open a second front against Russia in Abkhazia and South Ossetia."

"Such dangerous statements require a prompt response from the co-chairs of the Moscow Railways and the organizations they represent," the Russian side said.

Notably, the statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry appears to be a response to recent calls by some in the West for Georgia to take a more confrontational stance against Russia in the conflict.
