Russian Friendship Association Head Denied Entry into Armenia
On August 24, Viktor Krivopuskov, the Chairman of the Russian Association of Friendship and Cooperation with Armenia, was denied entry into Armenia at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan.
He had previously served as the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Armenia from 2009 to 2013 and as an advisor to the Russian embassy in Armenia. During the Karabakh Movement, he worked for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He was sent from Moscow to Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast, where he established connections with the Karabakh underground and aided Armenians in various capacities.
On the same day, the Association of Armenian-Russian Friendship and Cooperation NGO board members noted, "Another shameful incident happened today. At 6:00 in the morning [local time], at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan, they did not permit Viktor Krivopuskov to enter Armenia without any explanation to [him], a great friend of the Armenian people, [who is] declared a persona non grata in Azerbaijan."
"We, the organization's members, condemn the arbitrary decision of the Armenian authorities against our colleague, which violates the individual's rights and is illegal," the report added.
"Today, the opinion was confirmed once again that the opportunity to visit Armenia is prohibited to all those fighting to keep Karabakh as an Armenian territory," the statement added.
