Russian Official Signals Russia’s Openness to Broader Cooperation with Armenia

On April 6, Mikhail Shvydkoy, the Russian President’s Special Envoy for International Cultural Cooperation, stated in Yerevan that Russia is open to cooperation with Armenia and ready to pursue any initiatives the Armenian side is prepared for. Speaking to reporters, Shvydkoy announced that he would be meeting over the following days with officials from Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, and other government departments. He emphasized, "We are ready for whatever the Armenian country is ready for. This is, perhaps, our answer." Shvydkoy clarified that this willingness to collaborate extends beyond cultural ties and includes cooperation in cinematography, theater, performing arts, and art education. He underlined that "this applies not only to culture" and reaffirmed Russia’s general openness to cooperation.
