Pashinyan briefed Putin on Armenia's contacts with Turkey

Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Kremlin press service reports.

The implementation of the trilateral agreements between the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh was discussed, including issues related to the observance of the ceasefire regime and the restoration of transport and logistics ties in the South Caucasus, the administration of the head of the Russian state noted.

Nikol Pashinyan also informed about recent contacts aimed at normalising Armenian-Azerbaijani and Armenian-Turkish relations.

The mutual intention to further strengthen the strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Armenia was confirmed.

It was agreed to hold a visit of the Prime Minister of Armenia to Russia in the near future.

Russia welcomes normalisation of relations between Armenia and Turkey

Talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu ended in Moscow. The key topic of the bilateral diplomatic summit held on March 16, on the 101st anniversary of the signing of the Moscow Treaty between the government of the RSFSR and the Turkish Grand National Assembly, was the situation in Ukraine.

The parties also discussed developments in other regions, particularly the South Caucasus, where the process of normalisation of Armenian-Turkish relations has recently started.

Moscow welcomes the course towards the normalisation of relations between Turkey and Armenia, Lavrov noted.

“The first meeting of special representatives on the normalisation of Armenian-Turkish relations has been organized, Mr. Minister (Çavuşoğlu) will surely talk about this. We welcome the course towards the normalization of these bilateral ties between the two neighbouring countries,” Lavrov said.
